Rev John Johns (1801-1847). A short video telling the story of the first minister to the poor in Liverpool including the role played by Rev John Hamilton Thom in the foundation of the Liverpool Domestic Mission and the impact of the Irish Famine on John Johns and his work. The video uses the impressive monuments in the Ullet Road Church cloisters as the background to the involvement of the Renshaw Street congregation in founding this early ministry to the poor. Renshaw Street was built in 1811 and demolished after the congregation moved to their new premises in the suburbs in 1899, placing their memorials in the purpose-built cloisters.
